Pulse News Update does not have an app in any app store yet. We are designing native apps for phones and tablets, but we would rather tell you that plainly than show download buttons that lead nowhere. If you see an app claiming to be ours, it isn’t; please let us know at [email protected].
What the apps will do
We are planning apps that focus on the things a mobile reader needs most: a fast feed of the latest stories, the Morning Pulse briefing, offline reading for saved stories, Audio Daily playback that continues with the screen off, and optional alerts for major stories on the desks you choose. We will publish more details, including privacy information for each app, before release.
Use Pulse on your phone today
The website was designed mobile-first, with a bottom navigation bar, quick-scan story cards and large tap targets. You can make it feel almost like an app:
- Add to home screen: in your phone’s browser, open the share or menu button and choose “Add to Home Screen”. Pulse will open from an icon like any other app.
- Save stories: tap the bookmark icon on any story. Saved stories appear on the Saved tab and stay on your device.
- Listen: tap “Listen” on any story and your phone will read it aloud.
- Follow with RSS: add our feeds to any feed-reader app to be notified of new stories.
- Dark mode: use the theme toggle in the header or Profile page for comfortable night reading.
Why we are not rushing
An app is a long-term commitment. It needs regular updates, security maintenance and support, and it must respect your privacy as carefully as the website does. During the launch edition, we are focusing on getting our journalism and our website right first. When the apps are ready, this page will link directly to the official store listings, and we will announce them in the Morning Pulse.
Tell us what you need
If there is a feature you would like to see in a Pulse app, or a problem using the site on your device, write to [email protected]. Feedback from launch-edition readers will shape what we build first.
