About Pulse News Update

High-velocity reporting on technology, markets, climate, culture and the world.

Pulse News Update is an English-language news site built for readers who want to know what is moving in the world without wading through noise. We cover the frontier of technology, the forces shaping markets, the race to decarbonize, the shifts in culture and the stories that connect cities and countries. Our aim is speed with precision: short paragraphs, concrete detail, clear labels on every number.

A launch edition, clearly labelled

You are reading our launch edition. The stories published here are illustrative scenarios written to show how Pulse will report: they describe fictional or unnamed projects, organizations and people, and each one is marked “Illustrative · Launch edition”. We do this deliberately. We would rather show our format honestly than present invented events as real news. When we begin publishing reported news, that label will disappear from new stories and our standards pages will explain how sourcing works for each piece.

Our desks

  • Tech & AI — chips, batteries, software agents, robotics and the people building them.
  • Markets — supply chains, industry and plain-language explainers. We do not give investment advice.
  • Climate — clean energy, materials, food systems and adaptation, with careful attention to what the evidence supports.
  • Culture — creativity, education, craft and how technology changes everyday life.
  • World — cities, trade, mobility and the policies that cross borders.

Our formats

The Morning Pulse is our planned daily newsletter: a short briefing before the working day starts. Sign-ups are currently stored only in your own browser until the newsletter launches. Audio Daily lets you listen to any story; audio is generated on your device by your browser’s built-in speech voice, so there is nothing to download and no account to create. The Fast 60-Second Briefing on the homepage gives four headlines you can scan in a minute, each linking to the full story.

What we don’t do

We don’t run ads, we don’t use tracking cookies, and we don’t require an account. We don’t display live market tickers, reader counts or ratings that we can’t verify. If we ever change any of this, we will say so on our Ownership & Funding and Privacy pages before it happens.

Get in touch

We want to hear from you, whether you have a story idea, spotted a mistake or simply want to tell us what you think. Write to [email protected], or visit our Contact page for the right address for tips, corrections, privacy questions and partnerships.
