The fire alarm saved the entire family from the flames… but the baby inside the home still could not survive
WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) – A baby died in a Westlake mobile home fire early Sunday morning.
A mobile home in the Dove Creek Community on Westwood Road caught fire around 1:30 a.m., Office of State Fire Marshal investigators said. A couple and their toddler escaped, but an infant was killed.
Investigators believe the fire started in the living room or kitchen, but the exact cause remains under investigation. Investigators have not ruled out an electrical fire.
The home had working smoke alarms, which alerted the family and allowed the three survivors to escape, investigators said.
