A 62-year-old cruise passenger was found d3ad inside her cabin as the ship docked: Police reveal their initial findings

A BRITISH cruise passenger has been found dead inside her cabin as the ship docked in the Greek island of Santorini.

The 62-year-old died on Sunday after staff entered her private room and discovered the woman inside with local authorities now opening up a probe into her death.

The Brit’s body was transported by boat off the cruise ship to the port of Athinios in the early hours of the morning.

She was then rushed to the General Hospital of Thira, where doctors officially declared her dead.

Thira Port Authority has now launched a preliminary investigation into the woman’s tragic passing.

They have ordered the body to be transferred to the Piraeus Forensic Service for an autopsy.

An exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Police do not believe there is any indication of foul play and initial investigations point towards a sudden, health-related death.

Authorities are yet to identify the cruise ship by name, but have said it sails under the Marshall Islands flag.

The cruise reportedly set sail again on its normal Aegean Sea route after the woman was transferred to hospital.

It comes just weeks after a 79-year-old cruise passenger fell unconscious and was rushed to a hospital in the city of Chania after the vessel was forced to stop in Crete.

The man was later declared dead by doctors with his exact cause of death yet to be made public.
