Edith Falls, NT: Dominic O’Connell’s body found after 61yo went missing in Nitmiluk National Park

The body of a man who went missing while exploring a national park with his wife has been found by police divers in a plunge pool below a waterfall.

The body of a 61-year-old man who went missing at a Northern Territory national park yesterday has been found.

Dominic O’Connell, 61, visited Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park, north-west of Katherine in the Top End, with his wife yesterday.

He was last seen between 1pm and 3pm around the lower Plunge Pool.

Police said extensive resources had been deployed for the search at the time, but O’Connell had not been found.

Police divers began search the water this morning, and police later confirmed O’Connell’s body has been found in the pool.

His family has been notified and police are offering support to O’Connell’s wife.The death is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
