Police allege the group gained entry to the Albatross St property before assaulting and wounding Conaty, who was asleep at home with his partner, Tammy, at the time.
He was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical but stable condition with life-threatening injuries.

Conaty underwent an initial 14 hours of surgery as doctors worked to save his life, suffering devastating injuries to his arm and fingers, with his thumb almost severed, as well as serious wounds to his face, neck and abdomen.
He was later placed into an induced coma, from which he has since woken.
In an update provided by his family days after the attack, Conaty’s sister Shannon said he faced a long road to recovery.
More recently, his partner Tammy said he had been making encouraging progress but still faced further surgery, including a planned elbow replacement.

The man first appeared in Cleveland Magistrates Court on September 4 and is due to return to court on November 5.
Police previously said inquiries indicated the attack was targeted.
Neighbours were jolted awake by the alleged home invasion, with one describing hearing loud bangs and yelling coming from the property.
