Zara Tindall became visibly emotional during the opening episode of her husband Mike Tindall’s YouTube series, ‘Mike Drop’. In a heartfelt exchange filmed in January 2023, Princess Anne’s daughter discussed her experiences as a mother and her remarkable sporting achievements. The couple engaged in a frank 30-minute discussion during which Zara reflected on her equestrian accomplishments, particularly with her Olympic horse ‘High Kingdom’, who helped her secure a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
She also reminisced about her exceptional early career, claiming two gold medals on her senior debut at the 2005 European Championships, before capturing individual gold and team silver at the World Equestrian Games the following year. Zara spoke affectionately about the honour of competing and triumphing on behalf of the late Trevor Hemmings, High Kingdom’s owner, describing the achievement as especially meaningful.
With emotion evident in her voice, she remembered: “We managed to get him [High Kingdom] to the Olympics, which was incredible. Trev Trevor Hemmings has won so many amazing things in his racing career, Grand Nationals and things like that.”
The Queen’s granddaughter battled to contain her tears as she looked back on her Olympic experience, saying: “But to see his face at the Olympics and to get that team medal was amazing.”And to be able to give something back to him when he had supported me for so long was incredible. I’m going to get emotional.”
Zara and her husband Mike have now celebrated 15 years of marriage, having got married at Canongate Kirk on July 30, 2011.
Rugby legend Mike praised her dedication during their conversation, noting that she often puts her owners and horses first, sometimes at personal cost. The royal couple have three children together – daughters Mia and Lena, and son Lucas.
Outside royal engagements and sporting obligations, Zara is believed to dedicate as much time as possible to family life at home with her three children.

During the interview, Zara also candidly discussed the challenges of balancing motherhood with her career, including experiencing “mum guilt” and recovering her fitness after the births of Mia, Lena and Lucas.
She confessed to her husband: “I found it hard getting myself back to it. Mentally, you feel guilty as a mother leaving your child to go and do something else.”
Zara and Mike’s relationship began when they first met during the Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003.
Their engagement was announced publicly in December 2010, with Mike gifting Zara “a custom-designed diamond and platinum ring with a divided diamond band”.
The family resides at Aston Farm, a seven-bedroom farmhouse located within the Princess Royal’s Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.
This estate lies conveniently near King Charles’s Highgrove residence – a property believed to be especially treasured by the monarch.
