Perth boy, 5, dies after he is hit by a 4WD while crossing the road – as a woman fights for life in hospital
A five-year-old boy from Perth has died and a woman is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a four wheel drive near a park.
Emergency services were called to Belgravia Street in the eastern Perth suburb of Cloverdale about 4.25pm on Tuesday.
Police allege a Toyota LandCruiser hit the boy and a 48-year-old woman known to him.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was not injured.
The boy was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital, where he died, according to ABC News.
The woman is being treated at Royal Perth Hospital for critical injuries.
Belgravia Street resident Kaye Class told the ABC she saw the boy being worked on by paramedics.
‘A friend told us he had tried to run across the road and his mother had tried to save him,’ she said.
‘I stood there for half an hour to 45 minutes and they were just resuscitating, resuscitating.’
