NEED TO KNOW

Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s rarely-heard voices were caught on camera during a chat behind the scenes at Wimbledon.

On July 12, the royal siblings spoke to the 2026 gentlemen’s singles final champion Jannik Sinner alongside their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, following the Italian tennis star’s victory over Alexander Zverev of Germany.

Sinner, 24, was congratulated by All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club patron Princess Kate, 44, and her family after the match in a video shared by Wimbledon, and he got George and Charlotte talking after asking about their own tennis passion.

“It’s really inspiring for the children, too, to see tennis at that level,” Kate told Sinner after she and William kicked off the conversation, before the athlete turned his attention to George.

“Do you play every day mostly or no?” Sinner asked the 12-year-old prince, who admitted, “Not every day. Weekends.”

“You as well?” the two-time Wimbledon champ asked Charlotte, 11, who sweetly said, “Yeah, yeah,” with a smile.

Prince William, 44, then interjected with a quip that made them all laugh, and Sinner said, “It has to make fun, you know?” which struck a chord with Kate.

“Exactly. Enjoy the game,” said Kate, who is an avid tennis player.

While Prince George and Princess Charlotte have joined their parents at public events since they were toddlers, it’s rare to hear them speak.

However, it’s not the first time that royal fans have gotten a glimpse at the royal children’s voices. Back in 2020, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and their little brother, Prince Louis, now 8, appeared in a social media video to ask TV icon and naturalist Sir David Attenborough their top questions about animals.

Princess Kate has played tennis for years and has served as the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, a role that comes with the privilege of presenting trophies at Wimbledon.

She has tennis courts at both Forest Lodge, their main residence, and Anmer Hall, their country estate, and another competitor offered to practice with her family.
