Prince Harry’s long-awaited reunion with King Charles reportedly included one person who royal insiders say was always going to be present—Queen Camilla.
According to a new report, Camilla’s attendance at the private family gathering reflected her central role in the King’s life, with royal commentators suggesting any meaningful reconciliation between father and son must include the Queen.
Camilla Was Present Throughout the Reunion
The private meeting at Highgrove House brought together King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
It marked the first time King Charles had seen his California-based grandchildren in person since 2022.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the gathering took place but released no photographs or further details about what was discussed.
“A Non-Negotiable” Part of Charles’ Life
Speaking to PEOPLE, royal author Catherine Mayer said Camilla’s presence should not have surprised anyone.
“She is a non-negotiable part of Charles’ life. There is no reconciliation with him without her.”
The comments reflect how closely the King and Queen now operate together, both publicly and privately.
A Relationship That Has Evolved
Harry’s relationship with Camilla has long been one of the more complicated aspects of his relationship with the Royal Family.
In his memoir Spare, Harry wrote openly about his mixed feelings following Charles and Camilla’s marriage in 2005 and alleged that stories about him had been shared with the media to improve her public image.

“I love every member of my family, despite the differences,” he said.
When asked about Camilla, Harry added that he did not view her as “an evil stepmother” but as someone who had worked to establish her own place within the monarchy.

According to sources quoted by PEOPLE, everyone involved agreed the reunion should remain entirely private.
One family source said:
“It is better that people don’t know anything about these meetings. They should be allowed to rekindle those family ties.”
