Police have hit a wall of silence with an 18-year-old who was shot twice in the chest in Sydney’s south-west, saying he has refused to cooperate over the suspected targeted attack.
The gunman is still on the run after the teenager was rushed to hospital with serious injuries on Thursday night.
Police believe the teenager was shot in a nearby street and driven to Mimosa Road. Today
He was in a serious but stable condition on Friday, police said.
Emergency services rushed to Mimosa Road, near Highview Avenue, in Greenacre just after 9pm after reports of a shooting following a pre-arranged meeting.
On arrival, they found the man in the passenger seat of a Skoda SUV, he had been shot twice in the chest.
“[Police] found two spent bullet cartridges on the ground [of Banksia Street], and that’s where we think this shooting took place,” Superintendent Rod Hart said.
Police believe after the man was shot on Banksia Street he was driven by a friend to safety on Mimosa Road.
Police said they had spoken to the driver as well as the victim, who was refusing to cooperate.
The shooting is believed to be a targeted attack, and police are investigating whether it is linked to the gangland world.

A burnt-out Toyota Hilux was found on Celia Street in Granville.
“At this stage of our investigation, we’re looking at whether that vehicle was the vehicle used in the shooting,” Hart said.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
They are investigating if the gunman has any links to the Alameddine crime network.
