Hor-ror in South Australia: Mother and Child Found De-a-d as Police Launch Urgent Search for Missing Infant

The bodies of a mother and her young child have been pulled from the water near a popular South Australian tourist destination, and police are urgently searching for another missing child in an incident that is being investigated by major crime detectives.

Officers were called to the scene, west of Port Macdonnell in the state’s south-east, shortly after 11am on Monday, where a car was found with its engine still running. A search near Port Macdonnell on South Australia’s southeast coast.

Police launched a search of the area, and found two bodies in the ocean: that of the 36-year-old mother and her toddler.

The search for a second missing child – a baby – was ongoing.

“Police have grave concerns for the child’s safety,” a South Australia Police spokesperson said.

According to police, the woman is from the nearby town of Compton.

Major crime detectives and specialist forensic officers are en route to the scene.

Police, along with units from the State Emergency Service (SES), spent the afternoon and evening scouring the surrounding coastline, with the help of a search and rescue plane from Melbourne, as well as a helicopter and drones.

Police have asked for anyone who saw a white Isuzu MUX with South Australian registration plates S592BJR, or who may have captured dashcam footage of the vehicle, to contact authorities. A search near Port Macdonnell on South Australia’s southeast coast.

Located on the state’s Limestone Coast about 25 kilometres south of Mount Gambier, Port Macdonnell is the southernmost town in South Australia.

The former trading port is now a popular destination for fishing tours and is close to a series of walking tracks and sinkholes.
