Noah Brown has shared heartbreaking details about discovering the body of his older brother, Matt Brown, after days spent searching for him along a Washington river.

The youngest member of the Brown family from Discovery’s Alaskan Bush People posted an emotional Instagram video on May 30, shortly after his brother Solomon Isaiah “Bear” Brown confirmed that Matt had died at age 42.

“It’s late, and I have some bad news … It’s been a long day,” Noah, 33, said at the beginning of the video. “For the past couple days, I’ve been working with search and rescue groups trying to locate the body. And today, the group that I was working with located the missing body, and I identified it as Matthew.”

“My oldest brother, Matthew Brown, has passed away,” he continued.

Later in the emotional message, Noah revealed that he personally witnessed the recovery of Matt’s body from the river.

“I was there when we pulled him out of the river,” he said.

“We hauled him up off the bank,” Noah explained. “And then, after the sheriffs got there and everything, the coroner did his thing, and I went down to identify that it was him.”

“It’s definitely Matthew,” he added. “His ID and Social Security card was on him, and I was able to visually identify that it was Matthew.”

Noah also took time to thank the search and rescue teams and local residents who helped look for his brother over the past several days.

He apologized to friends, loved ones and fans who learned of Matt’s death through social media rather than directly from the family.

“I’ve had a lot of phone calls I’ve been making to inform one and anyone that I haven’t been able to reach or didn’t have a phone number for, but knew Matthew personally, that finds out from this video, I am sincerely sorry that I wasn’t able to tell you personally,” Noah said.

“And for all the fans of the show and everything, I’m sorry that it came down to this of finding out.”

Noah noted that more information, including Matt’s official cause of death, would be released later once the coroner completed the report.

Earlier, Bear Brown, 38, said the family believed Matt — who had struggled publicly with substance abuse and had become estranged from relatives over the years — had taken his own life.

Despite the devastating loss, Noah said he plans to continue posting content online when he feels able.

“I’m gonna do my best to continue doing my thing on TikTok because I’ve got a bunch of videos that I’ve been made to post,” he said. “So I’m gonna try to get back to doing that when I can.”

He ended the video with an emotional message to viewers.

“Anyway, it’s late. Say your prayers and tell people that you love that you love them while you can,” Noah said. “God bless, guys.”

Matt Brown was born to Ami and Billy Brown and rose to fame alongside his family on the Discovery Channel reality series Alaskan Bush People, which followed their unconventional wilderness lifestyle.

He appeared on the show from its 2014 debut until 2019, when he stepped away while dealing with addiction struggles.

According to Bear, one of his final conversations with Matt included the revelation that he had “fallen off the wagon.”
