Netflix’s New #1 Thril-ler Is Taking Over 90 Countries — And Its Dark Twist Starts With A Son Thought To Be De-a-d

It didn’t take long for Netflix to find its latest global smash, as less than a week after its debut, a new eight-part crime thriller has emerged to assert its dominance on streaming. Netflix has definitely been on a roll lately thanks to other crime shows like Nemesis, His & Hers, and the return of The Chestnut Man, which makes their newest series just another in a long line of recent hits. Like many of their successes, this one is also based on a book by one of the most popular thriller writers of all time.

Starring Sam Worthington as David Burroughs – a father serving a life sentence for the murder of his young son – the new crime thriller follows his escape from prison after evidence emerges suggesting that his son may actually be alive. As he embarks on a desperate search for the truth while trying to clear his name, David digs deeper to uncover a web of secrets, deception, and powerful people determined to keep the past buried.
Netflix’s Latest Crime Thriller Is a #1 Global Hit
Titled I Will Find You, the eight-episode crime thriller was created by Robert Hull and is based on the 2023 novel of the same name by author Harlan Coben. This isn’t the first time Netflix has found success with a Coben adaptation, as they’ve previously adapted a number of his works, including The Innocent, Safe, Stay Close, and The Woods, to name a few.
Also starring Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, Erin Richards, and Jonathan Tucker, I Will Find You hit Netflix on June 18. Since that time, it’s been trending in more than 90 countries, and currently sits atop the Top 10 Global and U.S. charts, beating the likes of The Polygamist, Michael Jackson: The Verdict, Teach You a Lesson, and My Royal Nemesis.

Scoring a respectable 65% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, I Will Find You has been called a “highly bingeable show” by Aramide Tinubu from Variety, while Kelly Lawler from USA Today notes that it’s “the highest-profile series so far, with bigger stars and a hugely gripping story.” Cher Thompson from ScreenRant adds:
“Netflix’s series of Harlan Coben adaptations continues with I Will Find You, a gripping mystery that locks in quickly and promises a wild, twisting ride all the way through to the conclusion, despite moments where it caves in on itself.”
That being said, viewers have been just a tad more unforgiving than critics, as I Will Find You only holds an audience score of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes. Some have called it “a waste of good actors,” while others have said it’s a “solid thriller with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.”
Still, even with its divisive reviews, it’s clear that I Will Find You is another massive hit for Netflix based on how high it’s risen in such a short period of time. You can catch all eight episodes of the new crime thriller streaming now.
