Savannah Guthrie became emotional during a recent Today show conversation as she opened up about the ongoing pain of her mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, revealing the advice she believes her mom would be giving her right now and admitting one heartbreaking reality she still struggles to accept.
The longtime NBC host fought back tears while speaking with Jenna Bush Hager about the challenges of continuing her daily routine and appearing on live television while her family remains desperate for answers in the search for Nancy, who vanished from her Tucson, Arizona, home in February. Savannah acknowledged that balancing her grief with the demands of work has been incredibly difficult, saying there are moments when she feels pressured to hold herself together no matter how overwhelmed she feels.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding her mother’s case, Savannah shared that she believes Nancy would want her to keep moving forward and continue living her life. Through tears, she said she often thinks her mother would encourage her not to stop, even in the middle of heartbreak, and to keep going one day at a time.
Savannah also admitted that one of the hardest truths she continues to face is waking up each day without knowing what happened to her mother. While she remains hopeful that Nancy will be found, the unanswered questions have taken an emotional toll on the entire family.

The television journalist credited her Today colleagues for helping her get through the ordeal, describing the show’s staff as a second family who have supported her during some of her darkest moments. She said the kindness and strength of those around her have helped her continue working while navigating the uncertainty surrounding the case.
Her emotional comments came just days after she shared another heartfelt message on social media as the search for Nancy entered its fourth month. Posting a religious image on Instagram Stories, Savannah wrote, “Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out,” before adding a simple plea: “Bring her home.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, is believed by investigators to have been abducted from her Tucson residence by a masked man in the early hours of Feb. 1. Authorities have said alleged ransom notes sent to local media outlets support the theory that she was taken against her will. While no suspects have been identified, investigators continue to examine physical evidence, including mixed DNA recovered from the property.

Savannah has remained vocal throughout the search effort, previously sharing an emotional Mother’s Day tribute in which she vowed her family would never stop looking for Nancy. “We will never be at peace until we find you,” she wrote, urging anyone with information to come forward.
For now, Savannah continues to lean on her loved ones, her work family, and the words she believes her mother would be telling her today: keep going, keep believing, and never give up hope.
