MAFS UK Drama Deepens: Bride Reveals She Was Stood Up While TV Groom’s Surprise Move Sparks Speculation
MARRIED At First Sight UK’s Nelly Patel has revealed she got ‘stood up’ on a first date this week.
The reality star appeared on the most recent series of the E4 show and had a tumultuous marriage to co-star Steven Springett – who revealed his new girlfriend this week.

Taking to her TikTok page, Nelly told fans how she had headed out in London for a first date with someone she met online.
However, after waiting almost 30 minutes past the time they had planned to meet, the star worried she had been stood up.
“OK so I am waiting for a date, went off that app – Breeze – and I think I’ve gotten stood up. This has never happened, help,” she told the camera.
Sipping a margarita cocktail at the Mexican restaurant they had planned to meet at, Nelly admitted she wasn’t sure whether to head off or continue to wait.

She said: “When it is officially time that I’ve been stood up?
“It’s currently 7:27, our date was at 7. And I also messaged him when it was like five to seven saying, ‘I’ll be there shortly’ because I was gonna be, what, five minutes late?
“He said ‘yeah no worries, see you soon’, and I said, ‘Don’t worry, I’m here’ at quarter past.”
Admitting she wondered whether her date had stood her up as revenge, due to her previously cancelling on him, Nelly revealed: “I think he’s teaching me a lesson because the last two dates I rearranged because I couldn’t make it.
“The first time I had a meeting and the second time I decided to go to Ibiza. So, do you reckon he’s committed to the date to teach me a lesson? That’s mean.”
She signed off the video by asking: “OK so, when do I leave? When do I say it’s unacceptable that you held me up this long without telling me you’re gonna be much longer.”
Nelly then updated fans by commenting on the TikTok with a picture of her empty cocktail.
She said: “Hi it’s 7.40pm I’m finishing my marg and I’m skiddadlinggg”.
However, two hours later, the star recorded another video where she revealed a miscommunication had actually taken place.
In fact, her date was also waiting for her at the bar, with the pair unable to see one another.
“OK so, update, um, my signal was really bad. Although, it wasn’t bad enough for me to not post my TikTok. But that’s cause I joined the WIFI and then a flood of notifications came in,” she said.
“So, I feel bad now. The poor guy, yes he was late, but also I said I was going to be late. He was also sat there waiting for ages.”
In the end, Nelly and her date decided to have one drink together before she left to go home – picking up dinner on the way.
Nelly said: “I overreacted, well, no I don’t think I did overreact, it’s just how I felt.
“But yeah, good date, lovely guy, he’s really nice. But guys, I didn’t get stood up, we were both just sat at different ends like di**heads for 45 minutes.”
Nelly had a rough time during her MAFS stint as she found proof that her husband Steven had been using dating apps during their time in the experiment.
Steven denied that he had used dating apps while on the show.
This left her hurt after the couple had enjoyed an initial spark and a romantic honeymoon.
They ended up splitting on the show after several tough weeks.
Now, Steven is in a new romance with partner Kelsey Horlock, whom he met shortly after filming wrapped.
