Frantic Search Continues for Missing Ba-by After Mother and T0-ddler Found D!ed Following Cliff Incident
A major land, sea and air search is underway for a three-month-old baby after the bodies of a mother and a toddler were recovered following a tragic incident near Port MacDonnell in South Australia.
Authorities say the search remains active as emergency crews work across the rugged coastline in the hope of locating the missing infant.
Mother and Toddler Found
Emergency services were called to Cape Northumberland Road at about 11:15 a.m. Monday after reports of an unattended vehicle that had been left with its engine running.
Police later recovered the body of a 36-year-old woman from nearby Compton and the body of a 13-month-old child, who police confirmed was her toddler.
The search for the woman’s three-month-old baby is continuing.
Large Multi-Agency Search
The operation involves SES crews, drones, helicopters, a rescue aircraft from Melbourne and marine search teams.
Two local fishermen also assisted authorities in recovering the mother and toddler from the water.
South Australia Police have asked anyone who may have seen a white Isuzu MU-X (SA registration S592BJR) to contact Crime Stoppers.
Investigation Underway
Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch and specialists from the Forensic Response Section are assisting with inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have not released further details while the investigation continues.
Port MacDonnell, South Australia’s southernmost town, is well known for its fishing industry and rugged coastline.
