He was later placed into an induced coma, from which he has since woken.

Police said investigations by Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch and Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Wynnum West man on September 4.

He has been charged with entering a dwelling with intent by break, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, wilful damage and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

The man first appeared in Cleveland Magistrates Court on September 4 and is due to return to court on November 5.

Police previously said inquiries indicated the attack was targeted.

Neighbours were jolted awake by the alleged home invasion, with one describing hearing loud bangs and yelling coming from the property.

“Bang, bang, bang. Going in the front door was unbelievable. It was just like an explosion,” neighbour Fred Sutton previously told 7NEWS.

Police investigations are continuing.
