The mother of Rashad Murphy’s four children testified during the sentencing portion of the Julio Foolio capital murder trial in Tampa, Florida, today (Wednesday, May 13).

Charmaine Stiger appeared on camera only briefly. She answered questions about her relationship with Murphy, who she met at a Foot Locker when they were teenagers.

Murphy is 32 and facing life in prison or the death penalty after a jury convicted him on Friday of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree attempted murder.

“Yes.”
“And are you in jail for a violation of probation?”
“Yes.”
“And are you scheduled to be released in the next few weeks, sometime in June?”
“Yeah.”

03:09 “He’s a good man. He’s a good father. He’s a super father, meaning he’s staring through any and everything with his children. He never leaves his children’s side, anything that they need, anything anywhere that they have to go. He’s there. He’s a good man. He’s a gentle man.”

“And just from this situation happening is, you know, it’s a situation that my children have to go through each and every day, and this pain here is just causing them to not be focused on the things that they need to be focused on. Everything has been stripped away.”

“I don’t recall.”

“Yes.”

“A business with his grandfather.”
