alling all Doc Martin fans! The US remake of the hit ITV comedy-drama has officially arrived in the UK following its US debut earlier this year.

Best Medicine stars The Good Wife‘s Josh Charles as Martin Best, a physician who trades his high-flying surgical career in Boston for a quiet life in a small coastal town. However, between his severe blood phobia and a town brimming with quirky characters, Martin finds adjusting to his new surroundings quite a challenge.

The series was a runaway hit in the US, amassing 15 million regular viewers by its finale. This charming, cosy medical drama is perfect for anyone seeking wholesome, escapist television. Fans of the original will also be delighted by a cameo from Martin Clunes, who captured hearts as the original grumpy yet lovable GP.

What is Best Medicine about?

Hailed by viewers as ‘fantastic’ and ‘delightful,’ the series follows Dr. Martin Best as he seeks a fresh start in the coastal fishing town of Port Wenn, Maine. While he hopes for a simple life running his new private practice, the town’s eccentric residents have other plans.

The synopsis continues: “Soon he’s introduced to Port Wenn’s community, filled with quirky but loving characters with no end of ailments for him to figure out and diagnose. However, as someone who is quite introverted and likes to keep himself to himself, he struggles with the adjustment.

He’s joined by Abigail Spencer (Grey’s Anatomy) as Louisa Gavin, Josh Segarra (Abbott Elementary) as Mark Mylow, Cree (Big Sky) as Elaine Denton and Annie Potts (Pretty In Pink) as Aunt Sarah.
