Those who have watched it have rushed online to share their thoughts on it.
The show has got an impressive 86% on critic site Rotten Tomatoes, and a whopping 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
One wrote on Rotten Tomatoes: ‘One of the most fascinating shows in 10 years. Initially, I wasn’t too interested by the title, but man was I wrong.
‘It’s not just a mystery and it’s not just a drama…Banner of Heaven really does a tremendous job pouring on the suspense in a measured way, keeping characters developing and pacing the story in a perfect way.
‘It also gives you a very intriguing look behind the history of Mormonism, which ties into the central plot in an unexpected way. Absolutely, 100% can’t miss.’
Meanwhile on IMDb, another added: ‘Superb. Gripping. Worth It.’
‘What an amazing show. Whilst I agree with all the other reviews stating Andrew Garfield being superb you can’t forget the rest of the cast, they are all fantastic and make this show a definite must see.’
‘The adaptation of this book is stunning because it introduces the struggles of a man of Mormon faith coming to terms with the murder inflicted by other believers in his community. Andrew Garfield embodies the role very deeply and the viewer gets the impression that he is torn apart and thoroughly tested in his faith. Garfield’s role is a first rate acting assignment.’

Many have rushed online to share their thoughts about the series which premiered in 2022
‘The series is very good. I read the very good book years ago and this adaptation is worth watching. Not sure I understand the reviews that say it’s boring. Certainly not. It’s actually quite absorbing.’
‘Top notch acting from everyone. Great script. I appreciate how got they portrayed both versions of the church. Extreme fundamentalism in any religion can be a dangerous thing.’
However others didn’t feel the same way.
‘It just goes on and on and on ! It could easily have been 5 or 6 episodes. Its a good story but i was nodding off towards the end. K. I. S. S should have been the order of the day.’
‘Should’ve been a movie.’
‘You really need to either be a Mormon or ex Mormon to fully understand the show.’
‘Did it have to move that slow!?’
It comes after a BBC crime drama boasting a perfect 100 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score left viewers ‘blown away’ with its Hollywood superstar lead bringing ‘immense gravitas’.
