Officers with the Plant City Police Department responded to a disturbance call in Florida on Sunday with reports of three people who were shot, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

A four-month-old and four-year-old child died at the scene in Plant City, a city roughly 25 miles east of Tampa.

Their 28-year-old mother was alive when cops arrived, but later died at the hospital.

A third child was found but they did not sustain any physical injuries.

As the investigation unfolded, police were led to a second location, roughly half a mile away, where they found the 28-year-old’s mother, 55, had died from a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe one of the women walked with the three children between the two locations.

Jodie Kott, who lives in the neighborhood, told NBC affiliate WFLA she woke up to gunshots around 7am.

“I only heard two gunshots, and I flew out of bed,” she said.

“My neighbor informed me that what he had found was a lady and her children had been shot right here in the driveway next door.”

Residents and businesses in the area have been asked by police to check their surveillance footage to see if a woman and three kids were seen walking around West Tever Street and North Burton Street between 5:30am and 7am.

Those with information have been urged to contact Plant City police at 813-763-3316.

The Plant City Police Department did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
