re you looking for your next TV obsession? Daisy Jones & The Six is finally heading to ITVX – and viewers have already branded the glamorous 70s music drama “seriously addictive”.

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling 2019 novel, the ten-part series stars Riley Keough, Sam Claflin and Camila Morrone, and follows the meteoric rise – and explosive downfall – of a fictional rock band at the height of their fame.

Set against a backdrop of sold-out stadium tours, backstage drama and tangled romances, the series centres on charismatic singers Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, whose undeniable chemistry propels their band to global superstardom before threatening to tear everything apart.

Inspired by the real-life dynamics of Fleetwood Mac, the acclaimed drama first premiered on Prime Video in 2023 and quickly became one of the platform’s most talked-about shows. Now, ITV viewers will finally get the chance to binge-watch it when it lands on ITVX on 7 June.

The series proved a hit with viewers when it first aired, and holds an 82 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

One viewer penned: “Discovered this little gem on Amazon Prime last week and ended up binge-watching the whole thing – it’s that good. I haven’t been able to get the music out of my head since. The soundtrack is seriously addictive.”

What is Daisy Jones & the Six about?

Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, who also wrote The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, the series follows the story of the iconic 1970s band, fronted by two feuding yet charismatic lead singers, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne.

The synopsis continues: “Drawn together by personal and artistic chemistry, their complicated musical partnership catapulted the band from obscurity to unbelievable fame. And then, after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they suddenly called it quits.

Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, Riley Keough (Rosebush Pruning), leads the show as Daisy Jones, alongside Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games), who plays Billy Dunne.

They’re joined by Camila Morrone (The Night Manager) as Camila Dunne, Will Harrison (Manhunt) as Graham Dunne, Suki Waterhouse (Me Before You) as Karen Sirko and Josh Whitehouse (The Knight Before Christmas) as Eddie Roundtree.

Rounding out the cast are Sebastian Chacon as Warren Rhodes, Nabiyah Be as

Simone Jackson, Tom Wright as Teddy Price and Timothy Olyphant as Rod Reyes.

Is Daisy Jones & the Six based on a true story?

While many viewers believed the story was inspired by real events, author Taylor Jenkins Reid previously revealed that the novel was simply influenced by the famously complicated relationship between Fleetwood Mac stars Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Speaking to Hello Sunshine, Taylor explained that the idea came to her while watching the band perform on MTV.

“Lindsey stopped strumming for a moment and Stevie let it fly as he watched from the sideline,” she said. “And for one split second – truly, a slice of a moment – Lindsey put his fist under his chin and looked at Stevie as if she was a miracle. And I thought, ‘Oh, they’re in love with each other.’”

She added: “When I decided I wanted to write a book about rock ‘n’ roll, I kept coming back to that moment when Lindsey watched Stevie sing ‘Landslide’. How it looked so much like two people in love. And yet, we’ll never truly know what lived between them.

“I wanted to write a story about that, about how the lines between real life and performance can get blurred, about how singing about old wounds might keep them fresh.”
