Mum named after falling from cliff in South Australia
Helena Wright and her two-year-old daughter died after falling from a cliff in South Australia. Her three-month-old baby is missing.
The mother who died alongside her two-year-old daughter in South Australia has been identified.
Helena Wright’s body and that of her daughter’s was pulled from the ocean off Port MacDonnell on Monday, with police believing they fell from a cliff, 7NEWS reports.
Ms Wright’s three-month-old baby boy is still missing.
The alarm was raised by a member of the public who found Ms Wright’s car with the engine still running by the cliff edge.
Ms Wright, 36, was born in Estonia and lived with her husband and two children in Compton on the outskirts of Mount Gambier.
The search for the missing infant resumed on Tuesday but rescue crews struggled with “high winds”, before severe weather conditions forced officers to cease operations.
Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said “no stone (would) be left unturned” while acknowledging it was “very unlikely” the missing baby had survived.
“Sadly today we have not been able to locate the boy but we will resume the search tomorrow in the morning,” he said.

“The conditions out there … were extremely challenging.”
Mr Stevens also spoke to the “tragic set of circumstances” and their impact on the remaining family.
“This is an extremely challenging time for the family of the deceased people that we have found,” he said.
“We have spoken to the husband of the wife and father of the children.”
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said the deaths “shocked you to the core”.
“Wherever we see the loss of anybody, it’s a tragedy. Where it involves children, that breaks your heart,” he said.
Local mayor Kylie Boston also spoke out about the tragedy.

“I think everybody is just kind of stunned because you hope these things don’t ever happen,” she said.
Superintendent Trent Cox said on Monday that the baby was with the mother earlier in the day.
“The baby is known to have been with the mother earlier that day but as to whether the baby was still with her when the vehicle was left, that’s open to speculation,” he said.
“I honestly don’t know.”

He said while officers were “keeping an open mind about everything”, they did not “hold out great hope” for the infant’s safety.
“The child is less than one year old,” he said.
“In any conditions, that would cause great concern about the child’s ability to survive, if not in the water.”
The search was called off on Monday night after conditions became too dangerous to continue.

Police have since released an image of the car believed to belong to Ms Wright.
