A disturbing documentary examining a fatal family gathering airs on television this evening.
The Mushroom Murders: The Case That Gripped the World arrives on Channel 5 tonight (May 14) at 10pm, and it’s essential viewing.
The programme chronicles the case of convicted killer Erin Patterson, who murdered three family members and left a fourth critically ill after preparing a lethal meal at her residence in Leongatha, Australia.
The incident occurred in July 2023, when Erin welcomed her future victims to her property and presented them with a poisoned beef Wellington. The dinner guests included in-laws Don and Gail Patterson, along with Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson and Heather’s husband, Ian.
While a third admitted: “I can’t look at beef Wellington the same after watching that Netflix documentary.”
Channel 5’s synopsis reveals: “We reveal the full story of how, in July 2023, Erin Patterson murdered three dinner guests and attempted to murder another by serving them a poisonous beef wellington.”
