Kin is an Irish drama co-created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, filmed and set in Dublin. The show centres on a fictional family embroiled in a notorious gangland conflict.

While initially broadcast on RTÉ One, following its surge in popularity, the series was snapped up by both Netflix and BBC, where it subsequently produced a second season.

At the centre of this hard-hitting narrative are Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds, portraying the two opposing gang leaders Frank Kinsella and Eamon Cunningham.

Joining them on screen are the likes of Charlie Cox as Michael Kinsella, Clare Dunne as Amanda Kinsella and Emmett J. Scanlan as Jimmy Kinsella.

Having watched the show, fans have posted glowing reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. One reads: “Tense, riveting drama. Strong performances. Highly recommend.”

Reports have now emerged that production featuring the complete cast will commence this July with filming taking place in Dublin. Despite the speculation, no official announcement regarding a third instalment has been made.

A spokesperson for Irish broadcaster RTE previously told the Irish Mirror: “Kin has been an extremely popular series for RTE and if and when there’s something to announce, we will be delighted to do so.”
