The Princess of Wales has returned to Royal Ascot for the first time since undergoing treatment for cancer.

Catherine joined the Prince of Wales and members of the royal family, along with her mother and sister-in-law, for day two of the popular racing carnival after pulling out of the event last year. Kate, Princess of Wales and Prince William arrive in a carriage on the second day of the Royal Ascot

Wearing a bright yellow dress by Roksanda, a matching hat by Jane Taylor and jewels once owned by Queen Elizabeth II and Diana, Princess of Wales, Catherine stood out as she arrived at the racecourse in a carriage.

The Prince and Princess of Wales rode in the second carriage, following the King and Queen in carriage one who were joined by Princess Margaret’s daughter Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband, Daniel.

The Princess of Wales’s last appearance was at Royal Ascot in 2023. In 2024, she was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer following abdominal surgery. The princess underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy before announcing she was in remission in January 2025.

The 44-year-old was due to attend the event last June but pulled out on the same day after suffering exhaustion and the long-term effects of her chemotherapy. Days before she had been at Trooping the Colour and Garter Day during what was a hot British summer.

Since then, the princess has made a gradual return to full-time royal duties with a busy schedule of events. In May, Catherine made her first overseas trip since her cancer diagnosis, visiting Italy for her work into childhood education and the early years.

On Saturday she joined King Charles and Queen Camilla, and other senior royals, for Trooping the Colour at Buckingham Palace and on Monday the princess attended Garter Day at Windsor Castle. Kate, Princess of Wales arrives on the second day of the Royal Ascot horse race meeting in Ascot, England

Royal Ascot on Wednesday was very much a family affair for the princess with her mother Carole Middleton, and her sister-in-law Alizée Thevenet, accompanying her and Prince William to the festival.

They were later seen mingling and watching the races from the Royal Enclosure.

The Princess of Wales’ outing at Royal Ascot came on the same day as former healthcare worker was sacked for trying to sell Catherine’s medical records.

The nurse had attempted to access the princess’ private notes at the London Clinic where she was admitted for abdominal surgery in January 2024.

The worker was issued a formal caution on Wednesday following an investigation into the alleged data breach by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

At the time, Catherine had spent 18 nights in hospital before being discharged and disappearing from the public for several weeks.

Her absence following the surgery sparked wild conspiracy theories about her health before she announced to the world she had been diagnosed with cancer.
