SOMEONE’S HIDING HIM..! – Victoria Police have released new images of escaped prison inmate Orijol Rukaj as the search intensifies and investigators pursue fresh leads into his whereabouts.

Orijol Rukaj has not been seen since April, having escaped custody after being granted a temporary release to attend a funeral.

On Saturday, April 25, Rukaj was allowed to pay an supervised visit to Keilor East cemetery in Melbourne to attend a funeral.

However, during the service, he was able to make off undetected and has not been seen since.

Now, Victorian police who have spent two months frantically searching for him are turning to the public for help.

In an effort to gather new information, further CCTV footage from the prison has been released.

They show Rukaj at different points in time in the hope of nudging the memories of anybody who may have seen him.

Meanwhile, Victoria Police has also lifted the lid on the efforts to locate him thus far.

“On Tuesday, June 9, police attended 20 addresses across the Melbourne metropolitan area to make further inquiries with a number of Rukaj’s associates in the hope of gaining further information,” a statement reads.

“Following these inquiries, police believe it is likely that Rukaj remains in hiding in the Melbourne area.

“Police have identified several people believed to have assisted Rukaj with his plans to escape; however, those people are currently offshore.

“He is also known to have connections to Albanian organised crime groups.”

The 47-year-old is described as caucasian in appearance, about 176cm tall with a thin build, hazel eyes and short, shaved brown hair.

He speaks with a southern European accent and was last seen wearing a white shirt, black suit and Asics trainers.

Police have urged anybody who sees Rujak to call triple-0 immediately. Anybody who may have information can either attend their nearest police station or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
