Prince Louis attended his first major sporting event today, joining the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The family observed the women’s netball semi-final match between Australia and Jamaica at the 5,000-capacity Hydro arena.
Earlier this morning, Kensington Palace announced that the Prince and Princess of Wales, referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland, would be present for the penultimate day of the sporting competition.
The attendance of George, 13, Charlotte, 11, and Louis, eight, was not disclosed before they arrived at the venue.
This engagement marks a milestone for Prince Louis as his first time attending an international sporting fixture.
While his older siblings routinely accompany their parents to major events such as Wimbledon and the Uefa European Championship, Louis’ public schedule has historically been limited to traditional royal gatherings, including Trooping the Colour and holiday church services.
His only other official public engagement was a volunteering initiative for the Big Help Out during the King’s Coronation celebrations in May 2023.

Later on Saturday, the Prince and Princess of Wales are scheduled to meet with Team Wales athletes and their respective families.
The Royal Family has maintained a steady presence throughout the 2026 Games.
Over the preceding nine days of the competition, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal have attended various events across the host city.

The Prince and Princess of Wales previously attended the Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Birmingham.
On that occasion, the couple were joined by their daughter, Princess Charlotte, and they sat with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The last time the event was hosted in Glasgow in 2014, William and Catherine were accompanied by Prince Harry.
