Sister Says One Final Text Didn’t Sound Like Jana as New Details Emerge in Queensland Mother’s D3-ath

One text message has become one of the most heartbreaking pieces of the investigation into the death of Queensland mother Jana Armstrong.
Her sister, Faith Isaacs, says she now believes the final message she received from Jana was not actually written by her, and looking back, she can now see warning signs that seemed insignificant at the time but have become impossible to forget.
The emotional revelations come just days after police charged Jana’s former partner, Dharminder Singh, with her alleged murder, an offence police have classified as domestic violence-related. Singh has denied the allegations through his lawyer, and the case remains before the courts.
A Text That Didn’t Feel Right
According to Faith Isaacs, she and her older sister spoke every day.
After the pair met for brunch on July 7—the last time Faith saw Jana alive—she sent her sister another message the following day.
A reply came back.
But Faith now believes something about it wasn’t right.
She has said the response did not sound like Jana and has since questioned whether someone else may have sent it. That suspicion has become one of the details haunting her as investigators piece together what happened.
The Moment She Realized Something Was Wrong
Faith says the biggest alarm wasn’t the text itself.
It was Jana’s baby.
Jana was a first-time mother to a four-month-old boy and, according to her family, rarely spent any time away from him.
When Jana couldn’t be found and her baby remained at home, Faith immediately felt something was terribly wrong.
“She loved every day, every minute spending time with her son,” Faith later said, describing her sister as someone who always put her child first.
Looking Back at the Missed Signs
In interviews following Jana’s death, Faith said she has replayed their final day together countless times.
At the time, nothing seemed obviously unusual.
Only afterward did she begin wondering whether there had been subtle clues she failed to recognize.
“Now that I am looking back there might have been a couple of things that weren’t right,” she said.
The realization has added another layer of heartbreak for a family already grieving an unimaginable loss.
Investigation Continues
Police allege Jana Armstrong was killed on July 7 before her body was later found in bushland near Toowoomba following an extensive search.
Her former partner, Dharminder Singh, has been charged with murder, arson and breaching bail conditions. Through his lawyer, he has indicated he intends to contest the charges.
Jana’s young son is now being cared for by Faith Isaacs, who has vowed to ensure he grows up knowing who his mother was.
Outside court, Faith described Jana as a caring, gentle woman whose greatest joy was becoming a mother.
As the criminal case moves forward, the final text message—and the feeling that “it wasn’t like her”—remains one of the most painful unanswered questions for the family.
