JUST IN: Hor-ror House Fire Claims Young Mum’s Life—The Heartbreaking Truth About the Baby She Left Behind Is Leaving Everyone in Tears
The family of a young mother killed in a horror house fire on the Sunshine Coast has paid tribute to the “beautiful soul”.
Isabella Nicholls, 21, died in hospital hours after being caught in a fire at her Buderim home.
Emergency crews were called to the unit on King St about 7.35pm on Sunday after reports of an out of control blaze.
Nicholls had reportedly been showering when she realised her unit was on fire and rushed through flames to safety, being cared for by shocked neighbours before paramedics treated her for critical burns to large parts of her body.
She was rushed to hospital in Brisbane, however, police confirmed she had succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Monday morning.
Another woman in her 30s was assessed by paramedics but was uninjured.
Neighbours said two miniature dachshunds are also believed to have died in the fire.
“Despite the incredible efforts of the medical team, our precious girl passed away surrounded by her loving family at Brisbane’s Royal Women’s Hospital,” a family member posted to a GoFundMe.
Nicholls’ family said she leaves behind her infant son, who is now in the care of relatives.
“Isabella was a devoted and loving mother to her beautiful baby boy, Elijah, who will now grow up without his mummy,” they said.
“She was also a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Our family is absolutely shattered by this unimaginable loss, and the heartbreak is beyond words.”
Nicholls family called her a “vibrant, kind, and beautiful soul” with her whole life ahead of her.
“She had a smile that could light up any room and a contagious laugh that none of us will ever forget,” they said.
“She touched the lives of so many people with her warmth, compassion, and beautiful spirit, and her absence has left an irreplaceable void in all of our hearts.”
The fundraiser was set up to help cover the costs of Nicholls’ funeral and to take financial burden off her grieving family.
“Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during the most heartbreaking time of our lives,” they said.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
