A DAD reportedly warned his children’s mother her bad cooking habits would “kill somebody one day” months before two of their daughters died in a fire she has been accused of accidentally starting.
Stacey Hales, 46, was arrested earlier in March months after the deadly fire broke out in her mobile home days before Christmas, killing her daughters Abby, 11, and Emma, 12.

The girls’ father Adam Keenan, 43, was also arrested on March 13 in connection with the December 20 fire that killed the girls, six pets, and destroyed their home, two outbuildings, and three cars.
The parents had also been in the home at the time of the fire but had managed to escape alongside their eldest daughter.
Charges were filed against Hales after Murietta, California, police determined she had a “repeat history of starting fires while cooking.”
The 46-year-old reportedly had a habit of using cooking oil with a propane stove inside the mobile home which would spark fires, Murrieta Police Department said in a statement.

The fires had become so frequent that Keenan had allegedly warned Hales that she could kill someone.
After the warning, Hales reportedly began to cook outside of the family’s mobile home using the same propane stove under a wood carport which was “in close proximity to combustible materials and an overhanging pine tree.”
Hales allegedly fell asleep on the night of the fire after failing to turn off the stove she’d used to make tortilla chips.
Cops also claim she was under the influence of methamphetamine and cannabis when the fire started at around 4.45pm.
There were no working smoke detectors in the home and escape was blocked by dog crates blocking the front door as the fire raged through the back of the building.
“Based on the totality of this investigation, I determined Stacey Hales unlawfully killed two human beings without malice aforethought by committing a dangerous and reckless act—unattended high-temperature oil cooking in close proximity combustible structures—under circumstances demonstrating conscious disregard for human life,” the Riverside District Attorney announced.
They added that the conditions in the home “directly contributed to the children being placed in a situation where escape was delayed or impossible.”
Police charged Keenan after claiming he failed to stop Hales’ cooking practices and allowed the continued use of the propane stove despite knowing the dangers.
Neighbors at the time revealed the devastating speed with which the fire grew.
“I thought it was maybe the mom who was screaming, the dad was screaming, I could also hear like animals, too,” Carlos Gonzalez told ABC7.
Officers had visited the home several times before the fire for domestic violence calls, child protective services assists and probation searches, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Hales has been charged with nine felony counts, including reckless burning causing death, child endangerment and under the influence of a controlled substance.
