A worker has died after being electrocuted at a building site.

The 55-year-old man was working on a scissor lift when it came into contact with overhead power lines on Geelong Road in Laverton North in Melbourne’s west about 2pm on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the site, but the man could not be revived and died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and WorkSafe has been notified,” police said in a statement.

WorkSafe confirmed it is investigating the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
