🚨 MINNIE MERRIMAN’S TEACHER BREAKS HER SILENCE AFTER THE TRAGIC D3ATH OF THE 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL… AND THE HEARTBREAKING MEMORIES SHE SHARED ARE LEAVING MANY SPEECHLESS
Minnie Merriman, a pupil at Hendal Primary School, in Wakefield, was found injured on an industrial estate in Arbroath earlier this week.
She was taken to hospital but died later.
Minnie’s headteacher Kelly Ashton said: “We are heartbroken by the death of Minnie. Minnie was a kind and thoughtful girl who was loved by all of her friends.
“She has belonged to our school community for four years and will be remembered as a caring and creative girl who always had a big smile on her face.
“She will be deeply missed by us all. Our love and sympathies go out to everybody affected by this devastating loss and our priority now is supporting our pupils and staff.
“As an active police investigation is ongoing, we do ask that people do not speculate on the circumstances surrounding this incident and request that the privacy of her family and our school community is respected at this difficult time.”
Vicky Schofield, Wakefield Council’s corporate director for children and young people, also asked for people to show respect and not speculate on the circumstances of the incident.
She said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with all those affected by this tragic loss.
“This is an incredibly difficult time for Minnie’s loved ones. And they have asked that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with what has happened. ”
On Wednesday Christopher Rice, from Wakefield, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court, where he faced a single charge of murder.
Police earlier said he was known to Minnie.
He entered no pleas and was remanded in custody until a later date.
