A beloved Australian television personality who was the original host of the popular children’s show Here’s Humphrey has died aged 86.
Beloved television personality Ian Fairweather has died at the age of 86.
The ABC reports a family spokesman said the popular presenter passed away at Gosford Hospital in NSW after suffering a fall.

News of his death was announced in a family statement on Facebook on Thursday afternoon.
“Ian Fairweather, Channel 9 TV presenter during the 1960 – 1980s died today at Gosford Hospital aged 86. He was an incredibly person who led an incredible life,” Bev Fairweather wrote.

A mainstay on Channel 9 in the 60s, 70s and 80s, Mr Fairweather was best known for his role on children’s show Here’s Humphrey, which was filmed in Adelaide.
He was also regularly featured on The Curiosity Show, a science program which broadcast on Channel 9 for 500 episodes in the 70s and 80s.
Penni Hamilton-Smith worked alongside Mr Fairweather and became close friends with him – even giving her son the middle name “Ian Fairweather” as part of a bet with the presenter.

“We’ve lost the most gorgeous, wonderful, talented, brilliant man,” she told ABC Adelaide.
“As he got older, his face wrinkled into a smile because he was such a happy man – he was always confident, always happy, always thinking good thoughts about people.”
Based in Adelaide for most of his life, Mr Fairweather spent his final days in the NSW Central Coastal region.
“He lived a full life, and he helped a lot of people along the way, and brought a lot of joy to a lot of people,” Ms Hamilton-Smith added.
“God bless him.”
