A wounded Mr Dehaini managed to stumble further down Mount Alexander Road before he collapsed outside a Woolworths loading dock, leaving a trail of blood.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition before he died.
The shooters fled the scene after they were picked up in a getaway car.
Local resident Nicole described the chaos of the shooting.
‘We heard two gunshots around 12.10am,’ she told The Herald Sun.
