Turning Point USA, the conservative nonprofit founded by late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, has announced plans to counterprogram Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.

In flyers shared across the organization’s social media profiles, Turning Point unveiled plans for their “All American Halftime Show” which will celebrate “faith, family and freedom” when it airs on Feb. 8, offering an alternative to the Super Bowl LX halftime show broadcast.

“Performers and event details coming soon,” the announcement concluded, linking to a survey that allows people to select which music genres they would like the performances to feature. Listed options include “Pop,” “Americana,” “Worship,” and “Anything in English.”

Bad Bunny, who has emerged as one of the biggest musical acts in the world since his 2016 debut, was named the 2026 halftime show headliner on Sept. 28, inciting a wave of backlash from conservative pundits. Much of the outrage was fueled by the Puerto Rican singer’s previous comments, revealing that he declined to bring his latest tour to the U.S. out of fear that ICE would target concertgoers.

He also received backlash for joking that Americans have “four months to learn” Spanish during his monologue while hosting Saturday Night Live last weekend.

Among the right-wing commentators and politicians who have expressed outrage over the halftime show pick is President Donald Trump, who insisted he doesn’t know who Bad Bunny is but believes him to be a terrible choice for the Super Bowl performance.

“I don’t know why they’re doing it,” Trump said of the NFL on Monday. “It’s crazy… I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson echoed Trump’s comments days later, remarking on the controversy outside the House chambers. “It sounds like he’s not someone who appeals to a broader audience,” the politician said. “There are so many eyes on the Super Bowl. A lot of young, impressionable children. And, in my view, you would have Lee Greenwood, or role models, doing that. Not somebody like this.”

Others weighing in include Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who voiced concern about “demonic sexual performances” at the Super Bowl, and conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren, who incorrectly suggested that the triple Grammy winner is “not an American artist.” Bad Bunny was born in Puerto Rico and has thus been a U.S. citizen since birth.

The Trump administration has also addressed Bad Bunny’s ICE concerns with a plan for the Super Bowl. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem vowed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers will monitor the Super Bowl in February.

“I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they’re law-abiding Americans who love this country,” Noem said last week.
