The Voice Rocked by Shock Double Exit as Two Mentors Walk Away Behind the Scenes

THE Voice hardly needed another problem to contend with.

A date for series 14 is yet to be agreed — although its production was complete some time ago — and host Emma Willis has landed a Strictly Come Dancing presenting job.

But now I can also reveal McFly stars Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher — who had a “double” chair on the ITV1 talent show’s panel — have quietly quit just as bosses hoped to snag them for series 15.

A source said: “Tom and Danny loved their time on the show, but a full series is a huge commitment.

“Tom is back and forth from New York, working on taking Paddington: The Musical over there from London’s West End — and he’s also in and out of the studio writing the eighth McFly album with Danny. As much as they would have liked to return to The Voice, sadly it’s impossible.”

Filming is due to resume this autumn, although it’s not confirmed if Emma will be returning while trying to juggle the job with Strictly.

She will be seen fronting series 14, now in the can, but awkwardly that will likely air while she also appears on Strictly on BBC One.

Meanwhile, The Voice’s new-look mentoring panel is now a work in progress.

I understand talks to lock in the line-up are ongoing, with the show’s recent troubles having caused havoc for bookers desperate to secure big-hitters to sit in the red seats.

The last series saw Tom and Danny joined by Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland, Black Eyed Peas legend Will.i.am and Welsh crooner Sir Tom Jones.

Now the exit of the McFly duo fires the starter gun on the race to fill their seat.

THE next series of Line Of Duty will come with a trigger warning if this sneak peek at the new series is anything to go by.

DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McLure) and DI Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) are seen wielding assault rifles as they come up against somebaddies, who are out of shot.

The two lead stars look stressed and bloodied as they take cover behind an overturned police van.

The BBC One crime drama, set to return for its seventh season next year, is filming in Belfast and set to wrap later this month.

Adrian Dunbar, who is returning as Superintendent Ted Hastings, revealed that production had been delayed by the recent riots in the city plus several rainstorms.

GARY LUCY has been fighting to reboot Footballers’ Wives after 20 years off air.

And now he’s issued a new update on his plans for the sexy footie drama, suggesting the comeback is beginning to take shape.

Chatting at the Tric awards, Gary said: “It’s one of those shows that always gets filmed in the summer and then aired in the winter. It won’t be filmed this year.”

Gary played footie ace Kyle Pascoe and has told how the character will have moved on in the comeback.

He said: “I won’t be a footballer in it, I’m too old for that. But in some capacity, yes, I’ll be in it, definitely.

“People loved it. It was just escapism.”

Packed with sex, money, champagne and outrageous storylines, Footballers’ Wives ran between 2002 and 2006, and is currently being streamed on ITVX.

KATHERINE RYAN gets snippy with her most outrageous views for new gameshow Unacceptable.

Despite being a mum-of-four, the comedian declares: “My unacceptable opinion is going to be that all men should be given vasectomies from birth” – before attempting the procedure on a plastic model.

She joins Richard Ayoade’s team for the new TLC panel show as they make their case to convince the studio audience to agree with them.

“It’s gonna be tricky but I am hoping at least 50 per cent of the audience is going to be on my side,” she muses.

“So it’s a tough sell but if anyone can – Katherine can.”

Unacceptable, hosted by Ed Gamble, starts on Sunday.

In the drama, war veteran Michael Peterson is accused of the death of wife Kathleen, who has fallen down the stairs.

Members of their family must choose who to believe.
