Prince William shared the relatable way that his family’s dogs misbehave.

The Prince of Wales, 43, shared the anecdote during his solo trip to Nansledan, Cornwall on May 21 while meeting people who came out to see him.

As seen in a video shared to Instagram by Hello! magazine, the heir to the throne lit up when he met a cocker spaniel — the same breed of dogs that he and Kate Middleton have at home.

“Hello, you’re very sweet! I love dogs. Ours are Orla and Otto. Very similar to yours,” William said as he pet the pup named Professor Lupin, who he praised as “very sweet.”

Nansledan is a sustainable community development led and managed by the Duchy of Cornwall. The Prince of Wales visited the area to highlight efforts to provide affordable homes and tackle homelessness.

“Is he behaving in the house? Is he chewing everything?” he asked the family and joked, “Ours chew slippers. Anything left on the floor is gone.”

Prince William and Princess Kate, 44, have owned several cocker spaniels bred by her brother, James Middleton, and their pack currently includes two dogs named Orla and Otto.

Orla joined the family in 2020 and Otto is her son from a litter of puppies she had in 2025. In a family first, both dogs were pictured in William and Kate’s 15th wedding anniversary picture and they revealed Otto’s name in a tribute on his May 1 birthday.

“Welcome to the family, Otto! 1 today 🥳 🎂,” they wrote below that photo taken by Princess Kate.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, and both dogs made a cameo in the video released for Charlotte’s May 2 birthday.

The young royal pet both dogs and snuggled up with one on her lap on a boat in the quick clip, which also showed her running and playing on the beach.

Princess Charlotte seems to have a special bond with Orla, who joined her 7th and 8th birthday portraits in years past.

Newcomer Otto’s proclivity for chewing things is also something that Princess Kate recently spoke about at a Buckingham Palace garden party on May 8, where she joked that the pup “chewed quite a lot the other day,” Hello! magazine reported.

“You have to keep them busy,” she said then. “The first thing we do in the morning is check, ‘Has anyone taken Otto out?’ “
