King Charles is celebrating a major milestone in his monarchy.

On Monday, May 11, the King and Queen Camilla will attend A King’s Trust Celebration, a special evening at the Royal Albert Hall celebrating the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust.

King Charles founded the charity in 1976; it was first known as The Prince’s Trust, as he was the Prince of Wales at the time. To celebrate the upcoming milestone, the King, 77, and Queen, 78, will join ambassadors, alumni, staff and volunteers from the organization at the iconic venue to celebrate the young people they have helped and their achievements over the years.

British TV icons Ant & Dec, also King’s Trust Ambassadors, will serve as hosts for the event.

During the evening, the King and Queen will meet this year’s King’s Trust award winners, take a group photo on stage and join the audience in a “three cheers” celebration.

According to the organization’s press release, The King’s Trust “believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed, no matter what their background or the challenges they face. The charity helps those from disadvantaged communities and those facing adversity by supporting them to build the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn.”

“Since the Trust was founded by The King, as Prince of Wales, in 1976, it has helped more than a million young people across the UK reach their potential by developing life skills, preparing for employment or accessing job opportunities,” the release stated. “Three in four of those it has supported over the last five years have moved into work, education or training.”

Following the evening at Royal Albert Hall, King Charles will also host a garden party at Buckingham Palace on May 14 to celebrate the organization’s anniversary.

The King’s Trust was also spotlighted during the King and Queen’s recent state visit to the U.S.

On April 29, the royals attended an arts reception at Christie’s in New York City. The event was hosted by Greater Together and The King’s Trust to showcase the U.K.’s cultural impact on New York through the arts, sports and community initiatives.

The King spoke at the event, sharing what leading the organization has meant to him, as well as his hopes for it to continue on after him.

“It’s a wonderfully proud but extraordinary moment to think that it’s 50 years since I started this trust,” he began. “Quite difficult to get it off the ground in the first place, but we did.”

He continued, “And so perhaps you can imagine that after all these years of investing in young people… the greatest thing that I always hoped, but never quite believed would happen, having invested, many of the people who’ve been successful through the trust then come back to help support other young people in the future.”

“That for me has been a wonderful virtuous circle,” the King said. “I won’t see the long-distance future, but I’m enormously grateful to you all for what you can all do as supporters to help this vital endeavor, to champion the next generation, ensuring that their talent and ambition continue to strengthen our societies for many years to come.”
