Inside the house where Derrick Groves hid – chaos, crawl-space and police drama revealed
The owner of the home on Honeysuckle Lane in southwest Georgia where Derrick Groves was found allowed FOX 8 reporter, Gabby Killett, to see the property’s ransacked basement.
The homeowner said investigators searched the area extensively after Groves was discovered there.
Law enforcement initially used tear gas in an attempt to smoke Groves out. But it wasn’t until officers deployed K-9s that Groves emerged from a narrow crawl space where he had been hiding and surrendered.
Investigators recovered a firearm and 15 pounds of marijuana from the home at the time of Groves’ arrest. Officials could not confirm when Groves began living there, but said he was not staying alone.
