He has been blown away by how his older sister has managed her endometriosis condition and also raised awareness for it.

Robert Irwin has praised his sister’s resilience over the last few years as she’s battled endometriosis.

Bindi has been dealing with the painful condition for more than a decade and has also raised awareness about how difficult it can be to live with it day-to-day.

Back in March, Bindi revealed she had had dozens of endometriosis lesions removed from her body and had felt “indescribable, inescapable pain”.

During an event in the US this week, Robert was asked how his older sister had been coping.

“Bindi’s journey with endometriosis has been amazing because it’s hard to battle through that. And it’s easy to just let it be a silent kind of battle,” he told PEOPLE.

“But she’s decided to actually amplify that, to spread her story, to share that with people, to help other people.

“That’s a brave thing. That’s a challenging thing.”

He said many people with endometriosis can spend years being undiagnosed, and he thought Bindi going public with her condition would have no doubt helped thousands around the world.

“I’m a very proud younger brother,” he added. “She is amazing in everything she does, and I’m just here to back her 100 per cent.”

Questions erupted about Bindi’s health earlier this month when she missed the annual Steve Irwin gala in the US, which was attended by Robert and her mum, Terri.

The family eventually revealed that the 27-year-old had decided to stay in Australia with her husband, Chandler, and daughter, Grace, to preserve her health.

Terri told E! News that traveling can be “challenging” for Bindi at the moment, but revealed she’s doing “so much better now”, and will hopefully be able to attend the Las Vegas event next year.

Bindi reveals difficult 10-year battle with endometriosis

During endometriosis awareness month in March, Bindi opened up about how tough it had been to battle the condition while raising her daughter and navigating all of life’s other challenges.

She initially kept her condition to herself because she was told by doctors that it was just “part of being a woman”.

Bindi said she went undiagnosed for 10 years and was “deeply insecure” about her health and felt “weak”.

“I was trapped in my own body,” she said.

Endometriosis can envelop the ovaries and fallopian tubes and even affect nearby organs, including the bowel and bladder.

But Bindi urged women across the world not to stay hidden.

“I urge everyone to remember this invisible disease each and every day,” she said in March.

“To lend support, compassion and grace towards the millions who suffer. It’s up to all of us to raise awareness, not just for endometriosis but for women’s health as a whole.

“No one deserves to suffer in silence.

“If you’re in pain, my heart breaks for you. I believe you. Please find answers. And don’t give up on yourself. I know how hard that can be.”
