A POPULAR Chicago drill rapper has been shot to death in broad daylight, eight years after he was cleared of a gang-related murder charge.

The rapper, whose real name is Devonsha Collier, was shot in the Southwest side of the city at 3 pm, the Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed to The U.S. Sun.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead early Sunday morning, the Chicago Tribune reported.

At the time of the shooting, the Chicago Police Department said that two of the victims were in fair condition, while the third was fighting for his life after being shot multiple times.

A disturbing video has circulated on social media that purportedly shows two gunmen running up to Collier and the two other men before opening fire just a few feet away.

No arrests have been made and no suspects named.

News of Collier’s death first broke after rapper Doodie Lo, who was in the crew Only the Family with Collier, mourned the loss of his friend on Instagram.

“MY BFF MY BRUDDA MY DAWG TAUGHT ME ALOT THIS ONE HURT WOP MAN EVERYBODY KNOW OUR RELATIONSHIP,” he wrote in the caption.

“I GOT YO KIDS FOR LIFE WHEN I GOT SHOT YOU JUMPED ON THE ROAD NO QUESTIONS.”

Fans left hundreds of comments sharing their condolences and prayers.

Collier released music with the hip hop group and label Only the Family (OTF), which has seen many former members killed or thrown behind bars.

The brand was started by wildly successful rapper Lil Durk, real name Durk Banks, who is currently behind bars and being investigated over an alleged murder-for-hire plot.

Collier had multiple run-ins with cops, and had been accused of killing someone who was in a rival gang in 2014 before he was ultimately cleared.

Prosecutors said that Collier approached Dominic Barnes, 21, on July 5, 2009, and asked about his gang affiliation before shooting him multiple times.

He and a co-defendant allegedly dug through the victim’s pockets for cash before running away, prosecutors claimed at the time.

In court, state attorneys quizzed him about his gang affiliation and claimed that multiple witnesses saw him firing the shots.

However, in 2017, a jury found him not guilty.

In the years since that case, Collier was also hit with felony gun charges in two separate cases.

However, the charges were dropped in one case, and he was found not guilty in the other.

Only the Family rappers killed

FOUR rappers who have worked with Lil Durk’s record label Only the Family have been killed since it was formed in 2010.

King Von, whose real name is Dayvon Bennett, was just 26 when he was shot and killed outside a hookah bar in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2020. He had been with OTF since 2018.
OTF Nunu, real name McArthur Swindle, was sitting in a car when he was shot and killed in 2014. The 21-year-old rapped with OTF from 2011 to 2013.
L’A Capone, real name Leonard Anderson, was shot to death outside a recording studio in 2013. He had just released one song with the label when he was killed.
THF Bayzoo, real name Devonsha Collier, was shot on October 25, 2025 alongside two other men. They survived but he was declared dead hours later. Collier had been with the label since 2018.

LABEL’S DARK HISTORY

Several rappers who have worked with Banks’ label have been thrown behind bars or killed.

In 2015, Banks’ former manager Uchenna Agina was shot and killed outside a restaurant after he was charged by a gunman.

In 2020, fellow rapper King Von, whose real name was Dayvon Bennett, was killed outside a hookah bar in Atlanta, Georgia.

The following year, Banks’ younger brother was killed outside a nightclub.

Prosecutors claim those two killings spurred Banks and other rappers in his crew to plot a revenge killing.

Collier was described as a “long-standing member of the Family” who “spits authoritative bars” on his Apple Music profile.

He’s featured on the popular song Sip Again on the album Only The Family – Lil Durk Presents: Loyal Bros.

The description for the album reads, “discerning the project’s guests from the core members of OTF can be difficult.

“But that’s very likely the point: In a family, everyone is equal.”
