Queen Camilla was spotted wearing the $40,700 Tiffany & Co. brooch gifted to her by First Lady Melania Trump — but swapped it for a Cartier piece after leaving the White House during the royal couple’s US state visit.

Queen Camilla was presented with a Tiffany & Co. brooch by Melania Trump, though she hadn’t worn the gift since departing the White House.

Camilla, 78, was spotted sporting the brooch as she accompanied her husband, King Charles, during a state visit to the U.S. last week. The couple received a warm welcome at the White House from the first lady and President Donald Trump.

As Charles and Camilla bid farewell to the Trumps, Camilla displayed the vintage brooch, which boasted a diamond floral design encircled by rubies. While Camilla donned the $40,700 brooch on her departure from the Trumps, she switched to a Cartier piece for her trip to Arlington National Cemetery. The accessory showcased both the Union Jack and the American flag. It comes after Trump was slammed for a ‘disrespectful’ gesture’ to Queen Camilla.

It was the identical piece Camilla wore upon landing at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. This follows Melania’s breach of royal protocol when observers noticed an improper detail in her dress.

The brooch was originally presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1957 by Robert F. Wagner Jr., the former Mayor of New York. It has subsequently been handed down to Camilla.

It is traditional for the royals to exchange gifts during state visits. The Tiffany & Co. brooch was presented to Camilla by Melania during her and the president’s state visit to the UK last September.

In exchange, Camilla offered Melania a handbag by Anya Hindmarch and a silver and enamel bowl crafted by artist Cara Murphy. During Charles and Camilla’s state visit last week, the royal couple presented the Trumps with a memorable gift, as Charles handed the president the bell from a World War II-era British submarine known as HMS Trump.

Charles presented the gift at a state dinner held at the White House, declaring: “May it stand as a testimony to our nations’ shared history and shining future.”

Charles referred to the bell as his “personal gift.” The item bore the president’s name and the year 1944, marking when the submarine departed a UK shipyard.

The king noted that the bell originated from a submarine that played “a critical role during the war in the Pacific.”

During a special toast at the White House state dinner, Charles reflected on the history between Britain and America as “reconciliation, from adversaries to the closest of allies, not always perhaps following the straightest path.”

Nodding to the gift, he quipped: “And should you ever need to get hold of us, well, just give us a ring.”

Charles went on to say: “Our people have fought and fallen together in defense of the values we cherish across the ocean and from coast to coast. We have stood together through the best and worst of times,” adding a nod to the “challenges we now face from those who wish us harm across the world.”
