The Duke of Sussex served up food at a special lunch for a cause close to his heart.

Prince Harry has been pictured getting down to work and serving food at a new event in Texas for a cause close to his heart, just hours after making an appearance at an NBA game. The Duke of Sussex took part in Day Two of the Warrior Games in Texas on Sunday.

The event is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured US service members and veterans, and the idea which inspired him to create the Invictus Games all the way back in 2014. Harry was seen serving up BBQ food cooked by the United Airlines to competitors, their families and staff at the event. The prince also presented medals to the winners and met several veterans at the event.

The charity praised the duke for his appearance, with a message on social media reading: “We were honoured to have Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, out to support our wounded, ill, and injured service members during Cycling and Wheelchair Basketball.

“On Day 2 of the Warrior Games, he brought energy, encouragement, and support to our competitors’ recovery journeys.”

The Fisher House Foundation, a charity that builds comfort homes for the families of military personnel who are in the hospital, also praised the duke for his appearance.

They wrote on Instagram after sharing a video of the BBQ: “A special lunch came with a special surprise today.

“Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, joined the Warrior Games Family Program, serving up BBQ cooked up by the @united airlines BBQ team to families, competitors and staff.

“More than a decade after attending his first @dowwarriorgames, Prince Harry continues to return to the event that helped inspire the creation of the @weareinvictusgames, a meaningful reminder “of the lasting impact of adaptive sports and the resilience, determination, and camaraderie on display throughout the week.”

Just a few hours before, on Saturday evening, the duke was pictured attending Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.

He was seated eight rows back alongside NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Warrior Games athlete JP Lane.
