A MURDER probe has been launched after a woman was found dead at a house.

Paramedics were called to a home in Croydon, London, at 9.30am on Wednesday following concerns for the welfare of a woman.

The 53-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene with the cause of death still yet to be confirmed.

Two men and a woman aged between 44 and 69 have been arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Detective Sergeant Suzanne Harris, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim and her family at this difficult time.

“While we recognise the concern an incident like this will cause, I’d like to reassure locals that we believe this to be an isolated incident.

“Residents can expect to see an increase in police presence over the coming days and must not hesitate to speak to police on the ground if they have any questions or concerns.

“In the meantime, my team and are working at pace to piece together the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are asking anyone with information to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”

The Met Police were notified by the London Ambulance Service of the deceased woman at the house on Furze Road in Thornton Heath on May 27.

A post-mortem examination and formal identification is yet to take place.

The force is still continuing its inquiries to locate and notify the woman’s next of kin.

Officers arrested three people at the scene, who remain in custody.
