A lip reader has decoded what Prince Louis asked his brother before the pair waved to crowds at the King’s birthday parade last year

A lip reader has revealed what Prince Louis asked his brother Prince George as the Royal Family made their entrance at Trooping the Colour last year.

Roars of delight rang out from the gathered crowds as George alongside his mischievous younger brother Louis, were spotted making their way to the King’s birthday celebrations along the Mall in London.

The two royal brothers were seen beaming and chatting animatedly as their open carriage made its way along the Mall on a gloriously bright morning last June. A professional lip reader has since disclosed precisely what she believes the young duo were discussing.

The expert told The Sun how Louis asks George: “Should I wave?” George then turns to his younger brother and is said to have replied: “It’s up to you, I can’t believe how sunny it is.” Louis then says “let’s do it together” before the brothers wave to the cheering crowds, the lip reader revealed.

Prince Louis showcased a notable change at Trooping the Colour in 2024 – yet still relied on Prince George and Princess Charlotte to keep him in check, according to one expert.

The then-seven-year-old, who has long captivated crowds at major royal occasions with his irrepressible personality, was back once again winning over royal fans.

And while delighting onlookers, body language expert Judi James believes he offered a glimpse of what may lie ahead. She told the Mirror at the time of last year’s Trooping the Colour: “Prince Louis’s body language on the balcony suggested he’s grown from the playful member of the royal firm into a fully fledged plane-spotter.

“He looked more focused than fidgety, watching each aircraft as they flew overhead before turning to his dad in what looked like an attempt to identify them. The avid nods from William and the smiles of pride from Kate suggested he was correct with them all, too. With a father and grandad both pilots, there are signs this might be a future career for Louis.

“He is also a very confident-looking young royal too. Charles nudged him to chat and Louis was the one lingering longest to wave to the crowds, only turning to go in when Charlotte ushered him.”

Throughout the balcony appearance last year, members could be spotted chatting amongst themselves as the aircraft soared above the palace.

Onlookers gathered in The Mall erupted in cheers as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – the Red Arrows – swept overhead, leaving striking trails of red, white and blue smoke in their wake.

The 2025 celebration represents the third Trooping the Colour ceremony of Charles’ reign. The colour – the regimental flag – being trooped on this occasion is the King’s Colour of Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards, also recognised as the sovereign’s bodyguard, which was marking its 375th anniversary. Trooping the Colour 2026 will take place on Saturday June 13.
