A cheating wife pleaded with her husband to stop talking to her as some of her final texts come to light in court while he stands trial for her alleged murder.

Mother-of-three May ‘Maya’ Millete, 39, vanished without a trace in January 2021, last seen pulling her car into the driveway of her $1.3 million home in Chula Vista, California, about 10 miles south of San Diego.

Maya had an affair with a co-worker and was pushing forward with a divorce from her spouse Larry, now 44, whom she married in 2000.

In the months before her disappearance, the couple was experiencing marital issues that caused Maya to move in with her sister-in-law, Genesis, to ‘get space’ from her husband.

On August 12, Larry texted Genesis that Maya had ‘left the house again’ after he had met with a pastor, according to FOX 5 San Diego.

He then shared a screenshot of messages from his wife in which she said, ‘Make sure you and the pastor talk about our final separation.’

‘And DO NOT try and talk to me,’ Maya added. ‘I am not changing my mind.’

She told her husband and father of her three children: ‘If u do not want separation, we can divorce. But I am not leaving the house. If u don’t want to see me everyday [sic], then you leave.’

At that point, Larry was texting Genesis almost daily, seeking her help to salvage his relationship with his wife.

Maya was seen for the last time on the afternoon of January 7, 2021, in a neighbor’s surveillance video, according to CBS 8.

Phone records showed that she had been browsing the internet and messaging friends until later that day.

On October 19 of that year, Larry was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Larry’s murder trial started on May 18 at the South County Superior Court of California.

He pleaded not guilty, claiming that his wife ran off on her own accord. Maya’s body has not been found to date.

During opening statements, County Deputy District Attorney Christy Bowles said Maya had long been unhappy in her marriage.

The prosecutor told jurors that ‘divorce was not an option’ for Larry, per the outlet.

She added: ‘There was no world that existed that May Millete was not his wife.’

Superior Court Judge Enrique Camarena, who is presiding over the case, said the trial would not be live-streamed or recorded because of how it could affect the legal proceedings.

Larry’s attorney, Colby Ryan, has acknowledged that the case is a ‘tragedy,’ but has argued that authorities blamed the husband without looking at other potential suspects.

Ryan has pointed to Maya’s affair with co-worker Jamey Laird, noting that the date of her disappearance also marked the affair’s anniversary, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

He noted that Laird and his pregnant wife had not been probed in the case.

The defense lawyer applauded Bowles for telling a ‘tragic, emotional [and] provocative’ story.

However, he shot back that it could only be true if Larry had ‘committed the perfect murder.’

Chula Vista Police Detective Officer Ryan Culver testified that Larry cooperated with police officers and let them go through the couple’s home on the night his wife was reported missing.

Culver told the court that law enforcement had not seen any signs of struggle or evidence of foul play.

In separate testimony, Detective Lorenzo Ruiz said he had searched through Maya’s credit card activity and found no record of it being used after January 7, 2021.

Ruiz testified that he reviewed camera footage but had not discovered evidence showing that Maya left the home that day.

He added that, after searching what he believed to be Maya’s laptop, the browsing history included, ‘Is manhandling a wife physical abuse?’ and ‘physical abuse manifesting years after marriage.’

The searches, several of which were from 2020, also included divorce, separation, and child support calculators.

A spokesperson for Bowles’ office previously told the Daily Mail: ‘We will not be making any comments on this case during its pendency.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Ryan, Larry’s attorney, for comment.
