A desperate search for a missing woman is underway in one of South Australia’s most popular coastal towns.
7NEWS understands police and SES crews were called to the rugged coastline near Port MacDonnell in the state’s far south‑east after reports a woman went missing near cliffs.
Port MacDonnell — the southernmost town in South Australia — sits on the Limestone Coast about 477km from Adelaide and 28km from Mount Gambier.
Once a busy shipping port, it now leans heavily on fishing and summer tourism, proudly billing itself as “Australia’s Southern Rock Lobster Capital”.
A police helicopter and multiple drones will scour the coastline, with ground crews also searching the area as the operation continues.
