Isaac Heeney’s latest move on social media is drawing attention as the investigation into the Sydney Swans scandal continues
Sydney superstar Isaac Heeney has deleted his Instagram account as the investigation into the alleged sexual assault scandal continues.
Heeney had boasted 115,000 followers before the account was seemingly deleted or suspended in the past 24 hours.
You can no longer access the page on the Instagram app with a “user not found” message appearing, while on desktop an error message is displayed.
“Sorry, this page isn’t available,” the message says.
“The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.”
The move comes as the investigation into Heeney and four other Sydney players continues.
Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon and Riley Bice were all suspended for the rest of the AFL season for breaching club standards.
Separately, a police investigation into sexual assault allegations related to what allegedly took place in a Melbourne hotel room two weeks ago is ongoing.
No charges have been laid and 7NEWS is not suggesting any criminal wrongdoing.
The five players are yet to publicly speak on the situation, aside from a joint statement released immediately after the bans were handed down.
They also won’t be attending the Brownlow Medal later this month despite still being eligible for the award.
The four other players still have active social media accounts, although none have posted since the scandal broke.
Heeney had used his Instagram account to promoted his new children’s books, which have since been paused.
Allen & Unwin, who publishes Heeney’s Little Isaac Footy Fever book series, revealed they have paused promotion and halted publication of a third book, which was due to hit the shelves later this year.
The move came after Colgate, Telstra and Nike distances themselves from the players.
“Allen & Unwin is aware of reports relating to Isaac Heeney and a Victoria Police investigation, and that his employer has exercised sanctions under club policy and terms of his employment,” they said in a statement.
“We view this matter seriously and believe that the women involved deserve respect and support.
“We have paused promotion of his two books and the publication of his third book, while the police investigation is under way.
“We are unable to comment further while the matter is in the hands of the police.”
